Figure No. 7, is an installation by alaa minawi that was installed at the entrance of the renowned arthouse and club De School Amsterdam for 12 months. The art work depicts a person sitting at the entrance waiting for everyone who are standing in cue to come inside and join the club. De School Amsterdam is closing its doors and with that Figure No.7 leaves the rooftop and starts its world tour.
Figure No.7 is part of a series under the name "out of body experience" that depicts the continuous strive to reach an out of body experience through dance. The outline of the statues is disconnected at the shoulder side as they are reaching their aim.

About the artitst(Beirut - 1982) is a Dutch-Lebanese-Palestinian artist based between Amsterdam and Beirut.
In his practice, Alaa tries to explore the possibilities of merging installation and performing arts. He also tries to involve the audience, not only as active participants, but rather as an integral element in the structure of the performance, for that Alaa diminishes the role of the performer and highlights the presence of the spectator. Degrees: - BA in Communication Arts from the Lebanese American University (LAU 2008) - MA in Fine Arts from Hogeschool voor De Kunsten Utrecht (HKU 2018). - A certificate from Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts London (RADA) to train light designers. He is a teacher at Hogeschool voor De Kunsten Amsterdam (AHK / University Amsterdam) Lecturer in Hogeschool voor De Kunsten Utrecht (HKU / University Utrecht), and Sandberg Institute (Amsterdam).
